These bottles come from John Teeling’s Great Northern Distillery. They are effectively the second round of releases from existing stock from the Cooley distillery.
Great Northern is a very large distillery in the former Harp Brewery in Dundalk, Irland. It will be a few years before we whiskey made at GND can be tasted but fortunately they have good stocks of mature whiskey for us to enjoy in the meantime.
These four bottle of Burke’s are all single casks, fifteen years old and they are all bottled at natural cask strength.
WhiskyJason reviews Glendalough 13 Year Old Mizunara Finish Single Malt Irish Whiskey
This Glendalough is the first Irish whiskey to be finished in Mizunara Japanese oak barrels. The initial 12 years maturation period was spent in American oak Bourbon barrel and then recieved a one year finish was in virgin Japanese mizunara barrels created by hand at Japan’s only independent cooperage.
Alan and Conor Hyde present their latest bottling, the HYDE No.6 “President’s Reserve”, which has probably not existed before.
For Hyde No.6, Alan and Conor have used a truly unusual recipe – eight-year-old, triple-distilled Irish Single Grain and much older (18-year-old), mixed with tripled distilled Irish Single Malt from a well-known distillery (Bushmills) from Northern Ireland – and then married in old Oloroso sherry casks to mature. The bottling is limited to just 5000 bottles.
WhiskyJason reviews Teeling Single Cask #7920 Irish Whiskey
An outstanding single cask bottling from the Teeling Whiskey Company. The whiskey was distilled in 2002 and matured in an ex-Bourbon Cask (Cask No 7920) to develop great wood and fruit notes – bottled in in 2016. This bottling is limited to 276 bottles. The whiskey is not colored, non-cool filtered and bottled at 46%.

This Temple Bar Cellar Cask Single Malt Irish Whiskey is only available at the Pub in Dublin and it is bottled at cask strength.
Traditionally distilled on copper pot stills and filled in bourbon barrels in 2004. The whiskey was allowed to mature for 12 years in the cellars of the Temple Bar in Dublin’s Dublin district.
Tom Cleary’s family has been around for decades and involved with the theme of whiskey and some barrels had decades ago already matured in the basements of their bars. So the step for Tom Cleary was obvious to also have his own Irish pub whiskey.
